I have a simple API that I would like to serve via a browser plugin.
Once installed the plugin will ask the user to register (Company Name & Email Address). This is a one-time requirement.
Now activated the plugin will appear in the users top tool bar offering a text input box and a 'Lookup Button'. The user will be able to enter a number and click "Lookup" at which point the plugin will call our API (response in XML / JSON) and display the returned data in a nice tabular format just underneath the plugin.
Notes on UI
The way in which the data is returned must be graceful and pleasing to the eye.
Next to each item in the displayed table there will be a 'copy' link which copies the displayed data to the users clipboard.
The table should disappear (fade out) after 5 seconds and also contain a close command if the user wants to shut it quicker.
Can the user set the toolbar to appear on the top or bottom of the screen?
I'd like to have the plugin available for IE, Chrome and Firefox.
