The use of web-mapping technologies to document, create and develop services that support the use of rich-media and multimedia have been popularised by the proliferation of connected mobile devices and geo-location platforms. Additionally, current standards in HTML have allowed developers to integrate more effectively multimedia and dynamic content into cross-platform services, accessible via Web, Mobile or Tablet.
Historical Locations; New Media & Technology Industries; Nightlife; Tourist Service etc.
The assignment project will consist of the key components:
● HTML5 Interactive Information Map formatted and compliant for Web, Tablet & Mobile Views
● Implementation of 3rd Party API (Google Maps) Platform
● Handling User Interactions
● Use of Rich Media (Video/Audio/Image)
● Wireframe/Storyboard illustrating the layout & UI elements of the service
Students will be required to source and engage in post-production of digital content for the service.
You have been commissioned by a client to produce an iMap service aimed at 18-30 y/o’s that highlight areas of interest within Manchester City Center Region & Salford, for the proposed target demographic.
The iMap will consist of two navigable content pages that will feature the key components indicated within this brief:
(i) About page
The landing page provides a textual description of the service, title banner and an embedded HTML5 compliant video with a dubbed audio track.
(ii) Map page
An interactive map with four tagged geo-locations and custom markers. The user will be able to access descriptive/textual information and images through interactive features.
The four-tagged locations must be one of each of the following and within the context of the target demographic:
• Cultural (e.g. Museum/Theatre/ Music Venue)
• Historical (e.g. Site/Location of Interest)
• Consumer (e.g. Shopping/Independent Store)
• Entertainment (e.g. Nightlife/Cinema)
Students are expected to visit the locations featured within their maps and obtain appropriate content* (Image/Video/Geo-location data) in support of the service. A minimum of one image per location is required and video content captured to be edited into a sequence of no longer than 30 seconds.
*Note: Video & Image content can be captured via Digital Camera or Mobile Device.
