Open Source: Web app for social venture fund

We are a newly established venture fund focusing on sustainable innovations at the base of the economic pyramid. The initial focus is in India in the sectors of food, health, education,energy and water. Our aim is to discover, incubate, scale and invest in for-profit enterprises that will advance disruptive innovations. The online social network aims to be the crowdsourcing platform for enterprises and people who are advancing sustainable innovations for the under privileged communities in the developing world. The key clients for the site will be entrepreneurs, investors, mentors and intermediaries who connect innovations to venture partners. BRIEF ON PROJECT As part of a pilot project, we want to build some functionality to test the platform with an existing user base. The functionalities include: 1)Member registration & profile 2)Challenges: time-bound competitions where multiple users can view the details of the Challenge (sector, deadline, rewards, critieria etc), apply online and get reward points for participation. 3)Reward points system for the members who participate in the challenge. Users get points based on the various tasks they engage in. The reward system should be extendable to other modules as well. 4) Database reports on members, challenges. 5) Newsletter mailing software to different categories of users/types/by geography. After a successful pilot phase, the idea is to develop & launch a full-scale online social network to engage the entrepreneurial community globally in order to discover, incubate, scale and finance innovations. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows? (depending on the nature? of the deliverables): a)? For web sites or? other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software? installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Best regards, Leila ## Platform We already have a brochure website online. We are currently using the open-source CMS Typo3 and Sugar CRM. We would like to develop the new functionality that can integrate with the existing systems. LAMP stack is a likely option. New suggestions on the programming language/database for the new modules are welcome, keeping in mind the ability to integrate with the current platform/software. Also the developer should provide the distinct advantages over Typo3 if the suggestion is to migrate to a new CMS. The developer should be able to integrate web 2.0 and crowdsourcing technologies/usability norms while programming. The proposed database structure should be modular and extendable so that new modules can be added in a phased manner.
