We currently run a multi-store Magento website using the Sweet Tooth Rewards module. This module is okay, but we have had some problems with it and we would prefer a customised solution.
The module is split into two parts.
This is a simple rewards point system (ie customer receives 1 reward point for every $50 spent). These reward points are based on invoices (not orders or payments) and obviously need to be registered against each customer’s account. The customer can then spend these points on rewards. The rewards will be defined by us and the value of the rewards will also be defined by us. The points can only be used to buy rewards, not purchase other goods or discount any normal purchase.
Ideally, the rewards catalogue would be one step in the one-page checkout, but we would also be happy with a separate page which can be navigated to via the drop down menu. A combination of this would also be sufficient (ie a selection of rewards in the checkout). The idea with having the rewards showing in the checkout is that the customer is reminded with every order that they can receive rewards by spending more money.
We should be able to adjust earning and spending rules from the Magento Admin Panel.
The loyalty scheme is similar to this Magento extension (http://www.aitoc.com/en/magentomods_loyalty_program.html. In short, this part of the module will classify customers into different levels (bronze, silver, gold, platinum, etc). Each higher level will result in improved purchasing conditions for the customer. The customer should be able to choose whether they want to be rewarded via a discount (handled via Magento), a 6-monthly rebate (handled via our accounting system - we should be able to run a report for this) or by receiving points (handled by the rewards part of this module). All three types of rewards will be applied as a percentage of future invoices. Earning rules for levels and rewards need to independently adjustable out of the admin section of Magento
One of the key aspects of this entire module is communication with the customer. The customer should be constantly made aware that he/she is earning rewards, that these rewards allow her/him to receive gifts for free, that spending more will bring bigger rewards. A monthly update email is therefore essential and it would be ideal if reward points balances and current customer level are printed on each invoice. It should also be constantly displayed while browsing the website. The customer should also be informed how much more he/she needs to purchase to reach the next level.
