Project Description:
We need a website designed to accompany our printed magazine. The site will need to provide access to all articles online. The magazine is published quarterly and will need to be updated per issue. There are static pages such as "About Us, Contact Us, Advertising, etc." Dynamic pages will contain categories such as "Family, Careers, Community, Fashion, Mentoring, Entertainment, Sports, etc." These categories will need to provide a link to recent articles and a way to archive past issues (database). There will also need to be a search function provided on all pages. I will provide a layout, but welcome all professional input as well. Sites that you should look at include: Southern Living (www.southernliving.com), Epicurious (http://www.epicurious.com/), Ladies Home Journal (www.lhj.com), and Latina (www.latina.com).
The site will also have forums. The hosting provider has some of the scripts already installed. They use CPanel and have blog software, content management, customer relationship, discussion boards, e-commerce, classified scripts, and more.
The Career section will need to include a module that will allow local employers to post new jobs. The entertainment section will provide visitors with samples from local artists (streaming copyrighted mp3s and video – using wimpy). The mentoring section will need to provide visitors with a sign up form. There will need to be an Admin Panel that will allow us to upload new information and control the content. The entrance to the site should be appealing and include a spot for a flash file that will be replaced every week.
A template may be used, but it will need to be customized for the seasons as well as the overall theme of the magazine. I love the simplicity of OSCommerce and would like to see if it can be customized to function as a magazine (free to general public). It provides a way to display banners for advertisers and is already installed on the site. I need to have the ability to archive past issues and upload new articles. I need to be able to provide passwords to certain restricted areas.
Thank you,
IndigoSmart

**UPDATE: This project has been re-opened. Unfortunately the previously contracted freelancer could not complete. We have decided to use Mambo and have already purchased 4 templates. We will need to have 2 of those prepared for use in Mambo. The project needs to be completed within 30 days. You must have excellent communication skills and we expect to be updated weekly. You will be paid at the completion and after the last experience - we will not place monies in escrow. We will NOT pay more than the allocated budget.
