VB 6.0 app - want to add net chat functionality to it and interaction between users listboxes and labels. The client is written in VB 6.0, so whatever client controls you write need to fit into it. As far as server and connectivity, I would like this to be some type of peer-to-peer application. I have a linux server and want to run it through that. Avoid .exe and avoid clients having to enter IP addresses, should be auto and connect via scripts or pages on my web server. OverView: System needs to handle hundreds if not thousands of users and chat rooms. The chat rooms are coded into the client and users move in and out chat rooms using command buttons. Each room has room code attached to it that is represented within a label in the client (ie. A1, A2, and so forth.) Whatever room code is in your clients label that's what chat room you're in. Clients should attach and communicate using a URL or an IP address (in a .ini or .cfg file on client). Should be made easy to add rooms. Every room code has it's own chat room and should be refreshed when you leave one and enter another. Program has the following and should have functionality to support it. You will need to do all the code to support this as well as help implement. Chat and whisper to users in current room. - Show all users in current room in a listbox - Info Popup (selecting a user, clicking info button and this pops up info on that person - drawn from labels in their client) - Trade Feature (basically move words from one players listbox to anothers listbox.) broadcast another listbox to all users in current room, users can remove items or additems and refreshed on all clients. Looking for easy fast creative solution. Be done on a unix/linux using CGI/JavaScript/Java/PHP or something. Please send me questions, concepts and ideas, what can and can't be done, and time frame for consideration. You will be provided with the sample application and server access to test on. Would almost prefer if this were some type of peer-to-peer application going through my web servers IP to connect to one another.
