I would like a skilled Ruby on Rails developer to program a hiking trails database app with social network attached using Lovedbyless I will only accept Rails coders that have completed and deployed either two smaller Rails projects or 1 large Rails project. I do not care what SVN you use, but you must have some type of SVN up so I can look at the code (I am a rails coder myself). Completed projects must be deployed through Capistrano. The app should also be properly unit tested. This is just the initial phase of the projects, once the site is up; there are more features that I want to add. I am looking for a long-term relationship.
Here are the basics: Users will be able add new hiking trails after sign up. Fields for users to submit: summary, elevation gain, peak, starting, ending, distance, average duration, difficulty, best month, terrain, how busy it is, and there are probably a few other fields I want to add. Based on the data that the user has submitted, the app should be able to output: • Google Maps: output the map as well as directions to the hiking trail • Current Weather information • Geocaching ??" waypoints that are close to that trails. Allow users to download the waypoints through geocaching.com • How many users hiked ??" based on user profile • Nearest ranger station if there are any. • Current conditions (not weather, includes road and trail conditions pulled from local or national websites). • Image Upload. • Topo Maps • Hikes around Each trail page will also include related trail reports from users. Rating system: registered and non registered users can vote on how good the hike is based on a 5 start system. Social Networking Each user will have their own profile where they can track what trails they have submitted as well as track how many miles they have done. Use the open source lovedbyless rails app. Other Notes If you can do the design, that would be great! I am looking for a fast and simple web 2.0 design. We can do this as an separate project.
