Objective:
To allow a user to upload a video file (mpeg, mov, avi, etc) with various codecs to my server and then to have the ffmpeg, mencoder, ffmpeg-php script convert the file to flv format.
I believe that with mp3lame, and ffmpeg-php, ffmpeg, or MEncoder will make it work.
Environment:
I am running php 4 on shared linux server in a VPS environment. It's the VPS environment that has been causing me difficulties. I was able to get ffmpeg to install, however I had to create a symlink called /boot/kernel.h pointing to /boot/kernel.h-2.4.9. This fixed the compiling error I was getting for the missing kernel.h file.
I assume additional symlinks will be needed in order to get mp3lame to compile.
Because of this is vps shared server environment, some of the standard programs that mp3lame will need that normally would be included in a stander linux distribution, might not be there. (ie ncurses might be one of them)
If you have done this before in a VPS formate, this should be a pretty quick job.
As a test for completion, all I will need to do is see if a .mov properly is converted to .flv with sound and video working properly.
In addition, I would like to be able to upgrade to php 5 eventually and will need to have the nessary instructions to do so.
If you think you can do this, let me know!
