This is a change I am considering to my previous project post.
My store has 3 levels of categories. The top level for all products is Car Make. The second level for all products is Car model, the bottom level for all products is product type (Car covers, floor mats, floor liners, etc.) When a search is made using the method described below I would like the bottom level categories to show up for all products that meet the search criteria instead of just all of the products showing up in [url removed, login to view]
I need three drop down boxes so a customer can search by vehicle make, model, and year. Using a modified [url removed, login to view] and/or [url removed, login to view] file is OK. I need a php file that I can place into a box on one of the columns.
I have a database table that looks similar this:
Product ID, Car Make, Car Model, Car Year Start, Car Year End
62960, Acura, CL, 1980, 2003
62964, Chevrolet, Corvette, 1968, 1982
Unless there is a is a better way to do it, here is what I need the box to do:
When a customer chooses the manufacturer "Acura" I want all vehicle makes that Acura offers to be available in the Model box. When the customer then chooses "CL" I want the years to show up.
An alternative is to have the years show up first, then the car models that have that year assigned to them, then the car model.
