before you go any further i want to be honest and say that this job might not happen for a few months - i am researching using a freelancer for this task and may not actually ask you to complete the project for another couple of months

We are thinking of setting up a dedicated server for our web site. What I am looking for is an expert to set up our server to be as highly optimised as possible to serve OSCommerce pages as quickly and securely as possible

# Speed:
* HTTP compression
* MYSQL query cache
* Dynamic Page Caching
* Anything else that you know which will make the site run as quickly as possible

#Security
The project will also involve making the server as secure as possible
This will include:
* Setting up SSL admin side and customer account creation side
* XSS protection
* Hacking Protection
* Whatever security measures you know that should/can be impleemented

#Email
* Maximum deliverabilty, including SPF or something
* Spam filtering that filters obvious spam but will not false positive
* anything else you recommend

#Admin
* System Backups
* MySQL Backups
* phpmyadmin
* system restore of some sort
* anything else you recommend
* disaster recovery
* generally highly stable

* anything else you think should be done to create the ultimate web server setup

The idea here is that you give us the best possible start by applying all of your hard earned knowledge to give us the best possible open source software based server setup. (note - if you explicitly recommend something that is not open source, that is OK as well as long as the cost is not too great).

This is a full commercial server and needs to be as fast and secure and stable as is possible.

Please give some indication of what measures you would implement for us in addition to the ones laid out in this post. Furthermore - if you believe that any of the measures laid out in this project are not a good idea to implement - please make that clear..

As should be clear - we are not experts at server administration, but are looking to go for a dedicated server and need an expert to help us ensure this is done as well as is possible.

It stands to reason that the winning bidder may well be called on for future server administration tasks, so this is likely to be the beginning of a long term relationship.
