The online program, I'm calling it "Goal Bug" for now, will be similar to the many other goal-settig programs in that it will allow users to compile and track goals, except it is specifically designed for a target audience, a specific client population. The buyers and operators will be local independent agencies who are under the governance of a national program who serves the target population.
The program needs a database for accumulating the variety of individual goals clients may have. This will link to a database of "approved" local resources and services that the client can use to acheive their goals. It will allow the approved local service providers (resources) to input their information on an individual page designed to advertise their services for the clientele. Resources can link themselves to different goals that clients may select, so that their information appears when clients input their goals. The inputs form resources will need to be approved by a local agency prior to incorporating to the database. Each agency can access to the complete list of all the approved resource contacts in the database, not just the local ones.
The program will be able to input and display client goals according to different attributes (ie. difficulty, importance, shared vs individual, stage of completion) and display them in a variety of visual formats and conformations.
The client can print out a simple individualized goal sheet with "approved" appropriate local resources. These can be used as documentation for the agency files.
Agencies use the program to compile a local resource list.
Approved resources can suggest other resources that they recommend for approval.
Clients and agencies can rate the resources on a variety of attributes.
Clients also can geographically expand the resource list to include distant resources.
The basic idea is to create two lists that are linked, goals and resources. From the basic structure other options will be added, so the program must be able to be easily modified and robust.
-The ability to see or contact other clients with similar goals.
-A "plan wizard" to create plans from lists of goals. Clients can save and display plans for other clients who are attempting the same goals.
-A search engine to compile other resources not officially in the data-base.
-Approved links to relevant on-line content.
-An online help database for the program.
I imagine this as a simple combination of "WishBomb.com" and "Airbnb" designed for a specific population.
