We are currently using some Excel files to create reports for some industrial equipment we are comissioning or verifying. Over time, time number of Excel files has grown a lot and keeping track of them became difficult.
We need a PHP application that can generate PDF reports that look similar to our current Excel reports. Data should be stored in a MySQL database. The PHP application will handle some math formulas, so that the resulting data must match Excel's results. The user-entered data is mainly text and a few numeric values that all calculations will be based on. The web interface will be user-based with password protection with 2 levels of security (read and read+write). Nothing fancy is needed for the GUI.
We have two types of products that are subject to these reports, each product having two variants.
Every product is identified by a serial number, made of 10 chars (letters/digits). One product can have several report types over its life time: comissioning, periodic check, or recomissioning).
You can find attached an archive containing report samples for both product types (both variants of each one).
The Image Logo should be picked up from a list of 3-4 options. Fields in parenthesis (ABC), (STATIC TEXT), (NAME), (DATE), is data entered by the user.
(TITLE) varies based on report type, according to the variants above.
The first table contains numeric data entered by the user. Some parameters are measured by the user repeatedly for a few times, and the value is averaged.
The rows of the table on page 2 contains measuring instruments used to obtain the values on Page 1. For newly created reports the items have to be read from a table of currently used measuring instruments (maintained in this same application, also). The items should be stored as text in every report.
The reports for the two types of products are very similar, the difference being the table on page 3, which has a different structure. The table consists of user-entered text/numbers and some calculated values.
Page 4 exists only for Product Type 2, and is made of calculated values and user-entered text/numbers.
The volume of calculations is not large, but for Variant 2 of each Product Type the algorithm is more complex and contains more variables and results. The formulas consist of arithmetic and trigonometric functions. All calculation algorithms and the original Excel files will be supplied to the worker. Calculated values must all be stored in the database (not recalculated every time a report is reopened).
The application must have search capabilities (based on product serial number, application name, customer name, reports older than a specified date).
