I am using the following website template: http://themeforest.net/item/cosmetico-beauty-shop-psd-template/5219744
And I am looking for a replacement for the product gallery that will make it easy for me to write a small PHP script to take images from directories on the web server and feed them to the product gallery module (I will write this).
What I Like:
Galleriffic (http://www.twospy.com/galleriffic/) has exactly the kind of implementation I'm looking for: my PHP script will just insert a few lines of HTML for each image and Galleriffic handles the thumbnail arrangement, image loading, etc. I also like that it appears to be optimized for galleries with many images (because we deal with 1000s of products) by pre-loading images only in proximity to the current selection.
I am not crazy about the layout though. I need a product grid with space for item numbers and sizes underneath (2 small lines). Also, the large image need not be on the same page as the thumbnails; a pop-up lightbox effect is more desirable, with the ability for me to add a HTML table underneath the large image. Since some of my images are very large, the gallery would need to resize the large image to fit the container, but I would like to allow users to zoom in somehow, in a user-friendly and intuitive fashion.
So, I don't expect anyone to create all this from scratch, but I'm sure there are existing technologies out there that could be fit together by a skilled practitioner to form something that is quite close to my requirements. As a web design beginner on a tight deadline, I am a little overwhelmed by all the results on google for different kinds of image galleries, lightboxes and sliders, and would really appreciate some assistance on this.
If this interests you then may I ask that you take a moment to view the theme using the link at the top of my post, and consider the look and feel of the theme when forming your solution.
