We have a point of sale system that stores transactional information very poorly. I think it actually writes it to a string then stores it in a file.
Anyway, the data can be manually exported to what they call a "csv". I've attached a sample of the data.
We'd like the following:
A program to run nightly (we can use Windows Scheduled Tasks)
Searches a directory for new reports
parse the report for the core data
append said data to a database program such as access
We would need our table to have the following columns:
Item Number (Item number and description are in the same cell - they need to be separate columns)
RxNumber (*item # 01 is a "prescription". the line below it "Reference:" has 4 "columns". we need the data from the 2nd column here. data from the 4th column goes to "customer code")
The sales data is found within the groups that say "Type: Sales"
