I have been trying to create macros to accomplish what should be a very simple project in Word 2002 without success. In a network environment, each user has a macro that will create a new document based on their own letterhead template. They are storing those macros in normal.dot. The templates are on the network. There are about 2000 form letters on the network. Some of them require letterhead at the top. Others do not. The ultimate result should be a macro which can be activated from the toolbar which will let them decide if they need the letterhead (yes or no). After making that decision, they would like to navigate to the form letter on the network drive and insert the document at the end of the new document if there is letterhead and at the beginning of the document if there is no letterhead. The form fields must be locked to allow for data entry. When that is complete, the form fields must be unlocked to allow for additional editing. End of project. Let word do the prompting to save. Let Word control printing. Leave letterhead templates unchanged. Leave stock forms unchanged. I am a former (ie obsolete) programmer who thought I could figure it out. I was wrong. Need results ASAP. Can send sample files if it helps. Can send pathnames for folders, if it helps.
