We are in the process of starting up a small social network (~2,000 members) and are now in the process of establishing the pilot site. For that we seek an effective programmer at low cost to be responsible for the development. If we find the right partner and set up a solid collaboration there could be many future opportunities in this project as there (hopefully) will be an on-going development of the site.
We will first make a A) pilot site (the current task). After that we will evaluate and either continue building on that or start from scratch to build B) the beta site.
A. Pilot end product (this current task)
The pilot site should consist of:
- a secure database of profiles (including functionality to store rating of members)
- a structure to store documents for sharing
- a platform to browse profiles and documents
The pilot can be built from scratch or you can utilise existing open-source platforms (or e.g. Ning) as long as you share the source code with the team.
B. Longer term aspiration (beta site)
The longer term end product will be a simple social network where members can see each other’s profiles. Further, the network should enable knowledge sharing (e.g. i. searching for tags among members, ii. download shared documents and iii. show basic data on the sites as simple graphs). If we are successful there will be a high number of functional expansion possibilities.
The bidding process
We invite you to bid on the project with the following information:
- An hourly salary
- A solution for the attached mock-up (a small site that has the functionality outlined)
- The source code for the solution
- Short description of credentials
- Estimate on weekly time for this project
The bidders will be evaluated both on quality of the mock-up solution, structure in the coding and the hourly cost. However, estimated capacity per week and credentials will of course also be assessed.
The way we work
First of all we work structured – therefore your coding should be structured. We work with a minimum viable product mindset and will thus build the site incrementally. This means you should find it attractive to have daily virtual interactions. We work with an extreme simplistic mindset – but security of data, speed of browsing and site reliability should be high.
We are based in Europe (GMT+1) and are a small team.
