In summary, the application needed is a white label "yipit clone", a daily deal aggregator which can run numerous sites with different graphic designs and page layouts, off a central database.
Expertise Sought:
We are looking for a senior developer or a small team with a proven quality track record and experience with daily deal or similar content aggregation and white label applications - to design, build and potentially be involved in the ongoing development of the application.
The bulk of development in this area is in LAMP, but we are open to other technologies if they result in a high quality, cost-effective outcome on an ongoing basis.
Experience with affiliate management systems is highly desirable.
Graphic design skills an advantage, but not essential - the priority is designing and building the application so that it can be easily and completely re-branded with numerous "templates" running simultaneously.
We are looking for an experienced developer to contribute ideas to the planning as well as development of this app, and the first stage of the project will let you show what you have to offer in terms of carrying out the actual development in the second stage.
Functional Spec:
The starting point is a robust, flexible, fully featured daily deal aggregator with a great user interface on the main web and mobile environments. See [url removed, login to view] and others, especially those which have good personalisation features to allow end-users to control what locations, categories and frequency of deals they see.
Entry level off-the-shelf 'yipit clones' like unlikely to be of acceptable quality as a base for this project, though if you know of a good one, we are open to being convinced otherwise. Code must be very well structured, written, tested and debugged in order to provide a reliable, cost-effective, flexible and scaleable platform.
The key white label aspects of the application are:
- the look and feel/graphic design and page layouts need to be completely separated from the functionality and database.
- the app needs to be able to run multiple sites with completely different templates and a high degree of functional customisation by non-technical administrators, allowing them to configure and choose features in the back end interface.
- a plain "bare bones" design with the emphasis on usability is to be included, with a user-friendly method for applying different style sheets, uploading logos and other graphics, page templates and whole themes.
