A site for voting which we will have many organisations use. The wite will offer the same voting styles/possibilities as http://www.simplyvoting.com/ with a Election setup and all of the different election possibilities. The site will be branded to us or our organisations.
If authentication was successful, the voter will be presented with a list of any ongoing elections. If the voter hasn't yet voted, he may click on the election and a tamper-proof electronic ballot will appear. When he submits a ballot, the results are encrypted and kept anonymous. The voter is issued a receipt and is now blocked from voting for this election again.
Once voting has ended the results are immediately tabulated. You can view the results in the Election Manager along with various reports on voting activity before publishing them. Once published, the results are made available to the public on your voting website and anyone will be able to verify the results by downloading a file containing votes and receipt numbers.
Some details that we, for example, would need:
- Voters who bypass authentication or have already voted are denied access to the ballot.
- One-vote-per-voter is guaranteed by marking electors as voted and storing the vote in a single transaction.
- Ballots have to be rigorously checked for validity before being accepted.
- Communication between the voter's computer and our website should be encrypted with 256-bit SSL, the highest level of protection.
One of these options for voter authentication:
» we provide passwords to with your list of eligible voters
» generates passwords (and optionally emails out direct voting links)
» authenticates voters against POP3 or IMAP email accounts
» authenticates voters against an LDAP directory
» authenticates voters against a 3rd party web service
» authenticates voters against a Central Authentication Service (CAS)
» authenticates voters against a Shibboleth identity provider (please contact support to enable)
» we generate a single sign-on (SSO) link on your secure website
Flexible Ballot Questions
Here's what we should be able to do:
» Specify ballot or question introductory text
» Attach photos & descriptions to each candidate
» Allow for a single winner or multiple winners
» Allow voting for write-in candidates
» Control the minimum and maximum number of candidates voters are allowed to select
» Control whether voters are allowed to abstain from voting
» Add comment boxes to collect feedback from voters
"Paper" Audit Trail
Once the electronic ballot has been cast a printable receipt is provided to assure voters that their votes have been recorded as intended.
