In this next phase of development we want to add a few features to our site as well as edit/take down some current features.
1.) We currently have facebook login for classDOX but think it would be good if we had twitter and normal signup/login functionality as well.
2.) In the new folder functionality it asks you to create a class folder. We want the user to say whether the folder is for "School" or for "Other". If it's for school our popup prompts user for school, dept, class number, and professor name. If it's for other the popup prompts user to enter in the name of the "other" folder... So on my profile there are two sections: "Class Folders" and "Folders" -- these are the two different types of notes.
3.) View profiles: every user that signs on to classDOX has a profile with their information and folders. Make a viewable profile for users to follow them... when they click "follow" -- those users get email verification when user creates a new note for a folder they selected to follow. Whenever a note is added by the followed user the recipient gets a link to those notes.
4.) Followers -- since users can be followed -- users will have a followed/following count... how many people they are following and how many people are following them...
5.) Archive notes -- notes are generally created, studied for a while and then not used again. We need to make a way for a user to delete notes and they go into a trashbin for him to access and restore if need be... but if a "Public" note is deleted then it only gets put into the archived folder for the creating user... but for the user who adds it to his folder it is still public for all to see. Once private notes are created they just go into the users archive folder -- with no public viewing because it is still private.
6.)Class Profiles -- when a folder for school is created -- a class folder -- users will store their notes in these class folders... if two students from the same class have the same folder name the idea with the class folder is that we want it to aggregate all same folders...
Person 1: Chapman University, BUS 295, Michael Smith
Person 2: Chapman University, BUS 295, Michael Smith
Person 3: Chapman University, BUS 295, Michael Smith
These three people have the same folder name -- and all three have public notes in those folder... The class page would be a landing page where all public notes from students with this folders notes accumulate for easy viewing. It would show all notes from users with that folder. The user with that folder and the most follows is labeled as the "Class Leader" on the class page... There would also be a place to say how many students were in that class, and how many notes. On this page in a "Tab" we would have a discussion board. This would be a chronological order -- it would look like something on http://lore.com/demo/course/pddn-1000.land -- but be more simple.
Homepage simple design tweaks... make login the main call to action... if user is already logged in when they first go to site -- go automatically to profile... http://klout.com/home -- more calls to action
Take away "Download Feature" Check out TinyMCE for tweaks (it inserts where there are "" when save is clicked)
social on/social off -- opengraph and twitter push for virality.
