One-off web design assignment offered as a start and will lead to another one at least. This will be a reasonably simple website of 4-5 pages which will represent a building product which I want to rent out and charge for it.
Home page will contain some write-up and 2-3 smallish images. (I have tinkered with Dreamweaver and created a very rough of this first page - go to www.engineer.uk.com to see. There is a 900x376px image missing from the top of the page - I simply can't seem to be able to have it seen on line. Also, do not press any of the "read more" hyper-links; it will take you to Dreamweaver tutorial sample)
When the user hovers over the image, this would have to increase on the screen so to show a closer detail of product. Clicking on this image would open a new tab where this image would be an enlarged static and where would be a further write-up about that particular situation (there will be 2-3 different situations to start with). From this page the user would have to be able to go one of 4 further pages; 2. Solution, 3. Services, 4. Calculator and 5. Order (like the problem solutions services order I have on the Spry menu on the test site).
Pages called Home (which shows the description of the initial problem), Solution and Services are just screens with information, no user interaction will be required, apart from Solution will feature 2-3 images similar to what's now on Home, and which images will again have to grow when hovered over and will open a new tab with larger static image and write up when clicked. Services will contain a write-up of what we can offer to the visitor.
Calculator page will have a further image with a simple calculation tool where user will be asked to input into a table with some 7-8 parameters so to return a result. With this result still alive on the screen the user would have to have an opportunity to change some of the parameters and check the varying results so to choose the optimal option. Once the user is happy with the results he would be in a position to go to Order.
Provide a separate price for e-commerce side, ie the Order page. Obviously, Verisign or otherwise agreed industry standard secure tool. On Order the user would have to sign in, and fill in the usual details, in addition to confirming his membership of a certain professional body, agree T&Cs and then pay for the rental as well as a security deposit.
I'd like the site to look neat and streamlined, something like ODESK or PAYPAL. I am thinking this should be done in ASP or PHP but open to suggestions. I would want this created in Dreamweaver as I have a copy and I know how to upload this onto my ISP using this application.
Images will be an export from AutoCad dwg format and so far I have managed to create half decent JPEGS out of this.
