We are a group of 4 University of Arizona Entrepreneurship students working on a project for the year.
Our business venture concept is as follows:
“Abroad Horizon is an online travel agency for students studying abroad in Europe who want to explore the continent, but don’t know which city to go to. The student can enter the dates that they wish to travel, their budget, and the amenities they seek from a destination city, such as “nightlife” and “beach.” The website will output destination cities that fit their criteria. We make money by getting a portion of the booking fees from flights, hotels, hostels, train rides, etc.”
We are hoping to hire someone to create an algorithm/website beta for our venture concept, that would be able to output cities based on amenities. Attached is an excel sheet that has 20 cities which we would like to include in the beta. For each city, we randomized an average hotel price and an average flight price (starting in Barcelona, Spain). Next, we have 5 city characteristics ranked for each city on a scale of 1-5.
If the customer inputs 3 characteristics, the sum total of the 3 characteristics would have to be equal to or greater than 9 for the algorithm to output that specific city. For 2 characteristics, the sum total would have to be equal to or greater than 6 to output that city. If there are 4 characteristics chosen, the sume total would have to be equal to or greater than 12 to output that city. This is based off of a multiples of 3 system.
Also, we have attached a mock website design powerpoint, as an example of what the site might look like.
The beta should be able to output these cities by price as well as characteristics. If the person chooses to stay for 4 nights, then the hotel price would have to be multiplied by 4 and incorporated into their budget. Also, the mock ups include car rental, rail, and trip packages, but the beta should only include flight and hotel as shown in the excel file.
We are looking for a very basic, yet functioning site that we can use for our final class presentation in April. We are all business majors and know very little about website or software design. Can you help us out?
