Read from a specific log file named [login to view URL] every five minutes and send the most recently appended lines to a MySQL server on the internet (we should be able to configure how often the the log file is read) Each line of the log file should be stored as a row in the MySQL server. Flag entries which may not have reached the database because of network or other problems. Each line of the log file should be parsed into four fields: 1)a start code 2)the date 3)the time and 4) the remainder of the log entry. At least once each day the application should archive the log file by copying it to a specified directory, renaming it with the format "VB0000_[date].log", and deleting the logfile in the original directory. Separately, we will need one web page written with php which will allow us to retreive and display records from the database based on a date range we specify. We should be able to sort, either ascending or descending, the displayed records by clicking the column headings. By default this page should show the most recent log entries at the top when first loaded. There should be a text box to allow for text based searches. There should be a way to specify a range of hours and minutes for which all records will be retrieved. The page should display the date and time of the last update to the Database [optional] A refresh function on the web page which will pull the most recent entries from the log file to the database without creating duplicate records. If the most recent entries are already in the database, a message should tell the user such. I have attached samples of this log file. The log file is always named [login to view URL] by the system which creates it. This application runs on a machine with XP which is rebooted daily, so it must run at startup, preferably as a service. *this is a kiosk application which runs unattended, so all system resources must be released. We cannot run out of memory or ports, etc.
