Project Description:

Looking to have a custom plugin built (or code) that will allow our editors to rate individual articles they choose to publish by set criteria (below).

The idea is to have two rating applications side by side. One will be rated by the editor (the person posting the article). The second would be rated by the readers (one vote per person). That way, we are looking to build a sort of dialogue between reader and editor.

The rating application itself would look like a series of slider bars (see attached photo based on what google is currently doing - only with a completely different application).

The criteria is:

1. tone (gradual increase in quality from: ‘aggressive’ to ‘cynical’ to’positive’ to ‘constructive’)
2. linguistic skill (gradual increase in quality from:’choppy’ to ‘technical’ to ‘masterful’)
3. thought-inviting (gradual increase in quality from: ’factual’ to ‘persuasive’ to ‘inspiring’)
4. originality/freshness (gradual increase in quality from: ’same old, same old’ to ‘same information, new conclusions’ to ‘intriguing’)
5. modesty/awareness of own biases (gradual increase in quality from: ’opinionated’ to ‘transparent’)
6. political ideology (not on a spectrum; chosen between ‘left’ to ‘centre’ to ‘right’ to ‘other world is possible’)
7. IR ideology (not on a spectrum; chosen between ‘realist’, ‘anarchist’, ‘marxist’, etc.)
8. linking events directly to readers/relevance (‘gradual increase in quality from: ’unstated’ to ‘somewhat stated’ to ‘strongly stated’)
9. goal of column (gradual increase in quality from: ’preach’ to ‘educate’ to ‘persuade’ to ‘start conversation’)
10. column timelessness (gradual increase in quality from: ’unlikely’ to ‘very likely’) – this one is trickier to quantify as arguably all column pieces have historical value and so are timeless…
