newsa is a news site offering summaries of news stories, feeds and tweets from selected users. Please see attached the png files for reference, designs in PSD files will be supplied when the job is awarded.
Load time for all pages should be max 2 seconds and should follow best practice guidelines:
The homepage has a header with a logo, the 3 main site segments, 8 categories (these are the same across the homepage, feeds and tweets) and links to the search page, Facebook/Twitter pages, RSS feed, submit page and about us page. The hover over colour for these links should be light blue (hex 3ac2e4)
On the homepage you have 51 articles listed and 6 banner spaces (300x250). When clicking the 'load more' button in the footer the next 51 articles and 6 banners will load underneath it.
Each article has a picture (size 300x190), a headline, a source, a category and text (up to 35 words). Each article links to an external page.
- As you scroll down the header will minimise and only show certain links, see the newsa-scrolling-down.png file - this should be the same across the frontpage, feeds and tweets pages.
- The CMS should have the option to set a top story, see the newsa-top-story.png file. This top story is a main picture (size 650x412), headline, source, category, text (up to 35 words) and related links. These are links to external sites which are manually put into the CMS system for that article, not to related articles on our site.
- Each category can have up to 8 subcategories, these subcategories should appear in the header once the category has been selected, see newsa-feeds-category-selected.png - this should be the same across the frontpage, feeds and tweets pages.
This is the feeds page where the user can select the category and subcategory for different xml feeds from publishers. Each publisher xml feed will be added to a category/subcategory in the CMS and should have the option to add to multiple categories/subcategories.
Per default show all feeds from the 'news' category.
Display headline, source, timestamp and category for each headline displayed. Show 80 headlines on the initial page, when clicking 'load more' show the next 80 headlines and so on.
Very similar to the Feeds page outlined above. Only difference being that a profile picture is displayed and the source displays the name and Twitter handle. Tweets should be pulled in from selected Twitter accounts through the Twitter API. Each Twitter account will be assigned to categories/subcategories. You have to filter out @-replies, they should not be displayed on our site.
This is where you arrive when clicking on search in the header. The user can type in his search keyword(s) in the big box and hit enter. Once he's hit enter it will display the search results, see newsa-search-results.png
A user can submit a link and comment on this page, he would have to fill in his name, email address, link and comment. Once he hits submit he will see the newsa-submit-thank-you.png page
This is a content page with a title and some copy.
