Project Description:
Was hosted on a Hostway windows dedicated server. Website is php, there are 2 blogs in subdirectories of the site. These blogs generated url's that contain "index.php" like this:
http://raymondleejewelers.net/blog/index.php/category/art-deco/
The index.php is in the url as if it's a directory.
We migrated to Godaddy. We have many pages cached in google and get much traffic from them. Godaddy said that since we were only changing hosting, the urls would be fine and all seo work safe. then we migrated. All links changed so that they did NOT contain the "index.php" So the same link as above now appeared:
http://raymondleejewelers.net/blog//category/art-deco/
As a result, NO urls that were cached for the main blog went anywhere. Godaddy does not know why. 404's were not working, people would only see a blank page that said "no file selected", or something very similar.
We pointed the domain back to the original site for now, so the links from cached pages will work. here's the blog we care most about raymondleejewelers.net/blog/. By the way, the main site was always fine, it was just the blog that changed it's urls.
Migration went by the book. Database export and imports by the book. Godaddy has failed at all teirs of support to even know why this happens, much less fix it. I need someone who can either make the links show up the same on the godaddy linux servers OR who knows how to write code into an htaccess file that will remove the "index.php" and send the visitor to the correct page.
