GeboMana is Limited edition hand-crafted fashion T-shirts with a conscience. We are seeking a fashion designer with international flair to design a single range of T-shirt designs on a freelance project basis. We envisage the right person will have
* Exposure to trends in North America, Europe and Asia
* Previous design experience with creating T-shirt design for screen printing
* Ability to independently translate a design brief into commercially workable designs
Have a good sense of what is commercially attractive
Clear understanding of production processes to allow designs to easily enter production
Ability to show examples of prior work
Our preference is for a designer with a cultural background from and understanding of the marketplace of North America / Northern Europe as those are considered our core markets.
The theme for the series is “Bali Art Goes to new York”. Your range will be the fourth range that we have commissioned in this series. You will be given a full visual storyboard.
We require you to make enough design suggestions to allow us to pick 10 designs in the range to take into production. We expect that most designs would work for both male and female but you may choose to create female/male variations of a design.
As part of the GeboMana promise we give back to the source. So as this series is inspired from Bali, all production and finishing takes place in Bali to foster trade opportunity for Bali. Furthermore, part of the proceeds of every T-shirt sold goes to the Gebo Foundation, which provides education in sustainable practices for underprivileged children - in Bali and other parts of Indonesia.
We offer to pay a fixed fee and a fee-component that is related to the success of your designs (as we have done already for other designers); we will provide further details on this as part of the conversations we will have with you prior to proceeding. For the fixed fee we expect to pay this in 2 or 3 installments relating to the progress of the job, with a deposit due before you commence the job.
The design phase will commence in February 2010. We will assess submissions during January. We would like to see a timeline of about 4 weeks from start of design phase to completion and acceptance of designs.
Please note that we do not expect you to submit design suggestions for this job in order to gain the job, however examples of prior work will be the best way to show your suitability for the project.
