Scenario:
You have been recruited as an independent consultant by a private sector company (you can choose any UK based company; eg: tesco, mc donalds, vodafone, etc) to investigate into its communication, information and knowledge flows. Your role will be to provide a reflective investigation of the current information system, identify problems and recommend new approaches to existing models in order to improve the performance of the organization. In order to do this, YOU ARE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE TASKS 1,2,3 and 4. Below is a list of companies from which you are required to choose one company in order to carry out the four tasks."

You are supposed to answer each of the tasks below SEPARATELY,

TASK 1) Assessment of information and knowledge needs

For the organization you have chosen,
1.1) Identify and critically evaluate the range of decisions to be taken.
1.2) Review and critically evaluate information and knowledge needed to ensure effective decision taking.
1.3) Describe and critically assess internal and external sources of information and understanding.
1.4) Make and critically evaluate recommendations for improvements.

Task 2) Strategies to increase personal networking

For the organization you have chosen,
2.1) Identify and critically analyse the nature of personnel including customers, other stakeholder and other experts.
2.2) Make contact with those identified and develop and critically evaluate business relationships
2.3) Involve and critically evaluate those identified in decision making as appropriate
2.4) Suggest and critically evaluate strategies for improvement

Task 3) Develop communication processes

For the organization you have chosen,
3.1) Describe and critically evaluate existing processes of communication in an organisation and look to ensure and improve appropriateness.
3.2) Implement and critically evaluate improvement to ensure greater intergartion of systems of communication of that organization.
3.3) On a personal level, identify and critically assess weaknesses and develop a personal plan to improve communication skills.

Task 4) Design and improve appropriate systems

For the organization you have chosen,
4.1) Describe and critically evaluate existing approaches to the collection, formatting, storage, disseminating information and knowledge.
4.2) Implement, justify and critically evaluate appropriate changes to improve the collection, formatting, storage, disseminating information and knowledge.
4.3) Implement and critically assess a strategy to improve access to systems of knowledge to others as appropriate
