We need research carried out for blog writers to write articles for UK based events or occurrences or matters of interest with an ecological, environmental or philanthropical focus. This is for research only, not for the articles themselves.
They should appeal to children under 11 years old (or be suitable material for blogger to adapt age- appropriately), so should be quirky or gross or humorous, but above all interesting. They need to cover all regions of the UK, not just a single area.
This project is for 10 articles to begin with and is to test content for potential ongoing relationship with a reliable researcher.
This is a very easy project for those who know what they are doing and could be completed in a few hours internet research.
They may be issues generic to UK on the whole, or specific to particular regions, examples could be:
• a phenomenon happening in all coastal regions or could be only one happening in south-west coastal areas
• inner-city related such as the rise in rates of asthma amongst inner-city London schoolchildren (from air pollution, in particular in schools in urban areas located near busy roads) compared to rates of asthma amongst schoolchildren in rural areas.
• Could be issues around (the list is not exhaustive)
o Animals (eg over population and the urbanisation of the fox)
o Countryside and wildlife
o Environment (eg paving of gardens and driveways affecting subterranean water-shelf levels and water supplies)
o marine life affected by pollution etc
o etc etc
They maybe single events/instances, or grouped by theme.
They must be current and topical and have a specific story behind them.
Cultural phenomena can be used to add to related features eg: in a piece about the rising levels and the effect on the areas around the River Severn, the custom of ‘Cheese Rolling’ could be mentioned to liven the piece up, but may not be submitted as a stand-alone event/feature because the main themes are ecological, environmental, philanthropical.
Please quote IJM/001BIR in your bid. Failure to do so will mean you cannot follow instructions in English sufficiently well enough to do the task.
All articles MUST be accompanied by citing sources for material to prove that no single source has been used eg Nat Geo.
Key words/themes: over-consumption, sustainability, waste, waste reduction, pollution, global warming, climate change, community projects, over population, over-consumerism, resource depletion, deforestation and agriculture, land-reclamation.
Many thanks and good luck.
