Project Description:
Initial project is to setup a Linux server for web site hosting under Apache, with PHP and MySQL.
Later there will be a role for someone to help from time to time to setup / configure / modify and maintain this Linux server.
This will likely be Ubuntu but is not decided yet - your comments on distribution may be considered.
The project will likely begin in 1 to 2 weeks.
The setup element may include:
Install and setup a control Panel (such as Plesk or other depending on recommendations)
Setup FTP server with specific config.
Setup SMTP.
Setup Webmin or other total server administration package.
Setup X windows
Setup VNC server
Setup SSH
Setup Apache, MySQL, PHP
Harden server, reduce entry points and assess "secureness" of server to advise on further measures.
Good documentation in English on aspects of the setup will also be required.
