We are looking to revamp a auto parts Zencart store. The store is not currently active so the option of just starting fresh from the latest version of Zencart with a new database is a easy option if needed.
We are looking for a coder that can code a custom search box (available on the side or top header) with a drop-down search for Make / Model / Sub-Model / Year. Functionality of the drops are populated dynamically (using jquery) from the previous dropdown selection.
It would be ideal if this search box was located at the top of page (or under the top banner) on a selected category or manufacturer page from the homepage and the search box target that particular selection. Examples....
Customer wants to find a mirror for his 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe LS.
From the homepage, they see a "mirror" category. Click the "mirror" category and is directed to the mirror products page. At the top of page there is a drop down for the customer to select his vehicle by first selecting a "Make" : Chevrolet Then he next drop down shows all the models that have mirrors available : Tahoe. Then all the Tahoe sub-models that have mirrors available : LS. Then finally the last drop down shows all the years available for the Chevrolet Tahoe LS that have mirrors available: 2013.
Now if the customer wanted to shop by a certain manufacturer of mirrors, he would use the Manufacturer box selection from the homepage. At the top of the manufacturer page would be the same drop down for the customer to select his vehicle information as above, however it would search the manufacturer's parts available for his Make / Model / Sub-Model / Year.
We welcome explanations of an alternative way to search for products with these specific details.
