What I would do specifically to start is create a facebook public profile for the band. I would also create a twitter profile. I would build up the fans and followers, then use the band info, text, pics, materials to spread the word and have specifically the facebook fan page/public profile grow, and the twitter follower count grow. It would happen over the course of a month. By the end of the month you would have 200+ quality people following the facebook fan page, and approximately 600 twitter followers. I would set up both pages to aggregate the band's website info into facebook and twitter. You don't have time to do these social network tactics. I'm a specialist specifically at music & band marketing in this fashion. By the time I am done, it would be easy for you to take over the accounts, because I would have built the backbone structure for you. All you would need to do is post something new on your website, or a blog, and it would automatically feed out to your facebook page and twitter. (Personally, I feel that myspace cheapens and lessens a band's image. I actually think myspace harms the band.) I also have some other methods on social media marketing that weren't mentioned. I would offer those services as well.
