Project Description:
I need a working project to View and edit records in a SQL Server (Publishers) database.
I am trying to open a SQL server Database with both ADO & DAO

The Access 2007 (Access 2000 Format) database will link to the SQL Server database thru odbc.

I will need source code with detailed comments.
I need directions for references list and placement of files.
I need directions for install. (Runtime)

The VB2010 Form will link to the database thru odbc
I would like to change the connection string to a "UDL" file.

Project root = D:\ADOodbc\ADOodbc.sln
main form = (frmOdbc1.vb) & Modules should be able to be copied to another project so I may use it again.

I would like to use the Publishers database in M/S office, with an added table, (not Linked) and 3 fields.
The added table name is "Tbls" and the fields are "ID", (Auto Number - Keyfield), "Tables" (Text - 50), "RecCount" (Integer"
I can create the access 2007 db for you, but not the link. (RK.mdb)

I tried this myself in VB 2010, using a custom SQL DB,but I had problems.
This is why I am using the SQL Server Publishers database.
I need directions for references list and placement of files.
When I try to move things around, My form does not open, and an error occurs
when I try to build the connection string, for the ADO control, "Test Connection" Succeeded,
but I get a Login failed error for user "Domain\Me". This server is on another domain.
then, I get,ADO1 [microsoft][ODBC SQL SERVER Driver][SQL Server]Invalid object name 'dbo_partmnth'.
I will use this test program as template and replace pubs with my database.

Project:

Project root = "D:\ADOodbc\ADOodbc.sln"
main form = (frmOdbc1.vb) & Modules should be able to be copied to another project so I may use it again.
All procedures & Functions that can be added to the Module 1 (RK.VB) should be added to RK.vb

The main form has:
1 Tab control with 2 tabs: "ADO" & "DAO"
Text boxes to hold Database name and location
Text boxes to hold Recordsource
Text boxes to hold Connection string
Text box to Hold UDL Link text
text box to hold Connection String
text box to hold New Query Def

================================================
ADO Tab has: (Tab 1)
1. VB6 ADO control
2. List Box (2 columns)
3. Grid to view recordset
4. button to show records in grid.
5. text box to hold New Query Def
Open Access 2007 w ADO & add to listbox all tables with records and all querydef's (do not add MSys & hidden tables to listbox)
The list box (2 columns) will show the table names & it's Recordcount, and all query defs (No recordcount for queries)

The DAO tab has: (Tab 2)
all of the ADO stuff, but uses the DAO recordset objects instead. (Access 2007 version DAO360??)
Open Access 2007 w DAO & add to listbox all tables with records and all querydef's (do not add MSys & hidden tables to listbox)
1. VB6 DAO
2. List Box
3. Grid to view recordset
4. button to show records in grid.
4. text box to hold New Query Def
================================
When the form opens, Both the ADO & DAO tabs will add the Query names, Table names, and record count to the list box
if recordcount = 0 then don't add the name to the listbox.
The ADO tab will do this thru ADO, The DAO tab will do this thru DAO.
Both tab's are independent of each other. Tab1 and tab2 can show different records
If I click the button to show records in grid, the grid will display the highlighted Listbox's records
I can add new, edit and delete the records in the grid.
I can create a new and delete a query def. The query def SQL will be in a text box
