Project Type:
Fixed
Budget:
$1500-$3000 USD
Project Description:
There are sites like officialpokerrankings.com, sharkscope.com, and bluffmagazine.com/thepokerdb that pretty much datamine the results of all tournaments played on various poker rooms. Poker rooms I'm interested in include: Pokerstars.com, Fulltiltpoker.com, cakepoker.com, ultimatebet.com.
These poker clients are applications that must be downloaded from the corresponding sites where poker games are played. Tournaments are games set up where players pay a designated amount at the beginning and get paid out a certain amount depending on where they place.
I'm looking for software that will somehow grab the results of all these tournaments from these sites. I understand that each poker app is different and would probably need a somewhat different method of acquiring the data. I'm still not completely sure how difficult a task like this will be and what kind of computing loads it'll require when complete. What I'd like is the software that runs and handles datamining all the data with minimal amount of servers necessary. I can probably set up some sort of remote desktop access to a computer for testing and coding if necessary.
I'm willing to pay up to $2000 for this.
If the above is simply impossible for $2000, then there is an alternative.
A ruby/rails script that periodically logs into a sharkscope.com account, grabs the most recent data on a particular list of players, adds it to a mysql database.

Notes: The poker clients are applications that have to be downloaded and installed. They cannot be logged into from a web browser.
Tournaments results would consist of the tournament by ID, the list of players by where they ended up ranking, and their payouts if any.
In order to apply for this job you should at least check out one of these poker rooms and see if you can come up with a way to achieve this task. The datamining sites I listed above don't tell their methods (in any detail) of how they get their data.
If no one thinks they'll be able to do it by the time this listing expires I'll accept the ruby script that accesses sharkscope as an alternative. Although I'm only willing to pay up to $500 for that as it's considerably easier and shouldn't take a veteran ruby programmer more than a few hours to complete.
