Once in a while I like to live in a Fairytale… So come along on this virtual journey through Blog land with me and you may just see something you didn’t think exist anymore. Journey Through Fairytale Land on Saturday Night! This Saturday I’m a caller to the magical land of Tasha Tudor’s Fairytale. An extraordinarily gifted and quite uncommonly unique and loving creature, Tasha Tudor was a children’s illustrator with an undeniable love for the nineteenth- century lifestyle. Aside from her beautiful whimsical and memorable illustrations, it is her way of life that I have for all time connected to and deeply burrowed in a niche within my human heart. It is this life style she lived that has encouraged me to live a bit of her magical Fairytale world. Living in the past is what I do best but mine is but a simple dream where Tasha was living in the past in whole reality. Tasha was a good emissary of time not wasted. Her hands never idled for everything one would imagine was done by hand in the 1800’s she did it. Spinning, knitting, crocheting, candle making, turning butter, making cheese, pressing cider , baking bread in a wood stove, weaving baskets from wood gathered on her property and preserving the bounty of her hard earned harvest all the while dreaming up a magical marionette theater and dollhouse with puppets and dolls playing their role in the FairyTale world Tasha created. Tasha was the preserver of that time we passed and like her screech owls’ attributes very wise in doing so. Often, Tasha Tudor born Starling Burgess would say that she had lived in a past life from the early 1800’s as a sea captain’s wife. Whether in humor or mere belief it was one of her reasons behind her adore of living in the simpler antiquarian time. Maybe even her given name may have something to do with her love of our fine feathered friends who she admirably placed homes in each room of her home. Tasha believed “birdsong a necessity”. A home was simply not a home unless a little tweety bird lived in it and I agree. That is reason why we have a love bird named Bandit who loves to draw blood….and keeps the cat awake! Tasha Tudor will always be my twinkling star of wonder and enchantment. The little Starling in the secret garden of Time who showed me the meaning of life through the eyes of a creature of nature and kind and to always keep the four leaf clover close by. This Fairytale Land “Corgi Cottage” was but just a little stop along the journey through the Blogasphere where the next realm may be even more common to my like than here but somehow I have my doubts.
