Project Description:
1) dataset file “NEWARCSHF”
2) It is has unique data item sampleId-grmno( samples of elements in arctic region) and their
respective respective (Ti, Fe, Mn etc ) percentages, Source Area(S-A), S-A group, Mineral
number to which they belong to. And their total percentages in the Total column.
3) These sampleId-grmno have to be clustered as different Source Area(S-A) and then S-A to S-
A groups ( eg: 1c, 2a,2c etc)
4) sampleId-grmno’s S-A groups are already identified but they are not arranged in to clusters
to make identification easy.
Things to be done:
All the SampleId-grmno have to be clustered in to minerals ranging from (0-8) based by
examining the (Ti,Mn, si, etc ) elements content.
You can Reffer to “Probe Elemental Coding Criteria.doc” for Mineral classifications
Eg: Mineral 0 = Fresh Ilmenite = FeTiO3
Needs to be > 17.98 % Ti and alteration < 1
And their respective S-A groups should be clustered winthin the Minerals.
