You should be familiar with HTML.
*** Job Details ***
You should replace of files in archive with translated version. (You can copy archive to another location and translate it right there. Use original files if you need to see original text.)
You should preserve format and encoding of each files you are working on. For instance, if you open file in UTF-8 encoding, save in UTF-8 encoding too. If file in UTF-16, save in UTF-16. Most of the files are plain text files.
Name of the files should be absolutely the same as original, including file extensions. At the end we should receive the same file structure with the same file names as in English translation.
*** Archive Sections: ***
app - contains phrases of the app that should be translated in *.strings files. Each *.strings file may contains several types of lines:
If line starts with #, you should not translate it and leave the same as in original. If line has format of
"..." = "...";
you should translate second part after equals sign, for example:
"download" = "Download";
For Russian language it should looks like:
"download" = "Скачать";
Please, preserve all characters around translations, including semicolons, quotes, numbers, spaces. Files in this section user will actually see in app. So, if you need context of word using, ask your contractor.
site - contains files on site. Have several types of files:
*.php - contains phrases in format
$doc['xxx'] = 'yyy';
$doc['xxx'] = array(
'aaa' => 'yyy1',
'bbb' => 'yyy2',
You should translate only 'yyy,yyy1,yyy2' values. xxx, aaa, bob should stay untouched.
Values for translation might have html tags, for example:
$doc['left_text'] = 'Free Beta';
You should preserve html formatting. So, for Russian it might look:
$doc['left_text'] = 'Бесплатная бета';
*.html - html files. You should translate text, do not translate html classes, tags and so on.
*.png - images. You should translate text on those images. Create separate file with name 'images_translations.txt' and put there original text and translation, so we could get this file to designer.
screenshots - screenshots for localization. You should translate all text in pdf's and place them in separate txt files. For instance, screenshot_1.txt,screenshot_2.txt and so on. Please, insert original text, so our designer could copy needed translation and place them appropriately. For example:
some english text on image = translated text
text_samples.txt - Text samples with calculations that will be used in demonstration screenshots or videos. You should translate not only text, but also numeric values if needed, according to your localization rules of formatting numbers, currency placement (before or after the decimal value) and so on.
