I am setting up a psychology study on EEG P300 responses. We are using an open source package called BCI2000 - http://www.schalklab.org/research/bci2000
One of the standard interfaces in the package is what's called a P300 speller. I need to modify this to be a P300 tic-tac-toe game.
In the P300 speller, there is a highlighting of rows and columns of letters and the EEG detects the signal of the character the user is focusing on. In the tic-tac-toe modification, we will use the same row/column highlighting mechanism but will accept only valid moves for the next game turn. The computer moves will occur in between user turns. The BCI 2000 package abstracts the EEG signal processing, so this will require only user interface code to be written to the standard interfaces BCI2000 offers. There is a test mode where EEG focus events are simulated by mouse clicks and acceptance of the work will be done through this test mode (ie. you will not be responsible for any problems that occur in putting the EEG itself into the system.)
After signing up for a BCI2000 account and looking at the code, we will further define the project and discuss programming approaches. There is a python interface available and I would like the ability to build this interface in python, but since the P300 speller example is in the native C++ interface I'd want to do a couple hours of (compensated, of course) research on how much extra work that would be.
