DBDAS is an Access-database that is used by a company that rents private chauffeur to its clients. The database makes it possible to keep an administration of every ride (in Dutch: rit) that a chauffeur makes. Whenever a ride is booked the database makes it possible to send an order confirmation by email to both the client and the chauffeur. Currently it does that by outputting certain fields from the database to a .rtf file (opens in Microsoft Word) and attaching that file to an email.
The assignment is to change this process a little bit and let the database put the same information in the confirmation but not as an attachment but in the email itself in rich text (html) and in plain text. I will provide the exact outcome the database should output (i.e. the email with the order confirmation in rich/plain text)
Here follows a short explanation of the database (see the .jpg files for screenshots);
Main menu (see screenshot main menu)
In the main menu the three most important buttons are:
Klanten (Dutch for: clients)
Chauffeurs (Dutch for: chauffeurs)
Ritspecificaties (Dutch for: specifications of the ride)
The first Klanten lets you edit all information about the clients
The second Chauffeurs lets you edit all information about the chauffeurs
And the third Ritspecificaties makes it possible to specify the information on every ride. It contains information like; the client who the ride is for, the chauffeur who is going to do the ride, the time the ride starts and finishes, the starting point, the destination(s), etc..
In the menu Ritspeficaties there are two buttons (see red arrows in screenshot ritspecificaties) that will start the process of sending an order confirmation email (in Dutch: opdrachtbevestiging) to either the client or the chauffeur.
When you push one of these buttons Access will start outputting the information to an email and an attached .rtf file. (See the following screenshots; Outputting orderconfirmation, Orderconfirmationemail client, attachment to orderconfirmationemail client, Orderconfirmationemail chauffeur and attachment to orderconfirmationemail chauffeur)
When Access asks for ritnummer (Dutch for: ride number) you put the Ritnr. from the ride of which you want to send the order confirmation. (Ritnr. is shown just below the right red arrow in the screenshot Ritspecificaties.)
Note: Some fields are made black for privacy reasons
The database is to big to upload here (1.8 mb) but I can email it to you.
If any translating or explaining is needed just send me an email.
