ebay web scraping

Project Description:
An ebay website scraping tool to check on the value of scrap gold currently being offered on ebay

will work in a similar fashion to application at
http://www.auctionsieve.com/

except with some very specific varibles and calculations I need done

I want the source code for this and a commitment to update code as necessary if when ebay changes their data formats. Separate quote for each add on change requirement will be done in the future by the winning bidder.


Ebay search terms

gold scrap -not -no -silver -sterling -watch -wristwatch -steel -new -white -ep

Must only search auctions not buy it now


All Case insensitive and found in descriptions from key words above


Gold purity formats (GPF)

3 Variables needed at start of each session

1) TARGET % threshold to current gold price (%TTGP) ... can be set to 60% of spot gold price for example.


TWO separate time varibles for warning windows

ie
2) user sets one varible to ie 30 mins which produces warning "blue trim window" at 30 mins before auction ends
(data used from Ebay website scrape only necessary up to this time variable nothing longer )


3) user sets second one to 2 min which produces warning "red trim window" at 2 mins before auction end

2 minute warning only pops up if
if % threshold to current gold price remains below target varible set, otherwise tracking ends.


windows work as folows

1) when opened they are on top of other open windows
2) longer varible time frame window automatically closes when the shorter time varible window opens or when the

threshold break cancels the tracking
3) shorter time frame window automatically ends when auction is over
4 ) both windoews show the following data

a) item description, time left, number of bids and current % threshold to spot gold price (%CTGP)




To calculate the current % threshold to current gold price (%CTGP)

determined by getting most recent gold futures fix.... spot price (SP)
will be determined by the mid point of the bid and ask prices found here

Then calculating the value of GOLD being offered for sale (VOG)

using the following formulas from the Ebay item description

for calculation the following 4 rules apply

Rule ONE

Description must have at least one Gold purity Format (GPF) and one Wieght Format (WF)

To calculate value of item at current price this formula is used

((SP*WF)/31.1035)*(GPF/24) = VOG

where
GPF = Gold purity format in K's ie 10K
SP = Spot price in one troy ounce of gold
WF = Wieght format ie 5 grams
31.1035 = number of grams in one troy ounce of gold
24 = maximum number of K's in pure gold


Rule two

Description has two Gold purity Format (GPF1) and (GPF2) and one Wieght Format (WF)

To "guestimate" value of item at current price this formula is used

((SP*WF)/31.1035)*(((GPF1/24)+(GPF1/24))/2))) = VOG


Rule three

Description has two Gold purity Format (GPF1) and (GPF2) and two Wieght Format (WF1) and (WF2)

To estimate value of item at current price this formula is used

(SP*WF1)/31.1035)*(GPF1/24) + (SP*WF2)/31.1035)*(GPF2/24) = VOG


the rule to find if GPF1, GPF2, WF1 and WF2

exist is to find the 2 closest gpf and wf numbers (which is one pair ) which can be found in in either order
ie 10k 14G or 14g 10k

and then find the next pair also in either order
24k 3 grams or 3G 24ct



Rule 4 is the do not calculate rule

if any other combinations or single entries of either GPF or WF occur do not do any calculations
the data will be useless ie 14k, 12k, 18k wieghing 28.2 grams or 14 grams of mixed gold etc etc


ONCE YOU HAVE THE VALUE OF THE ITEM FOR SALE formt eh 4 rules above

you can now calculate the

% threshold to current gold price


which is to express

VOG/SP*100 = %CTGP
