Have an existing, successful site and store using MIVA technology. Currently, they stock over 2,500 items - all individual one-of-a-kind.
They are planning to provide several websites to offer their product line on websites specific to product use. The number of items in stock will be expanded beyond 2,500 items total - but product line will be distributed over several websites.
To that end, we have begun development using Magento CE to use the same back-end and offer different catalogs/domain names for each product line.
The design of the individual sites are expected to have the same look and feel to one another - similar colors, banners, and navigation structure. The client would like to maintain the current color scheme and potentially the same (or very similar) product layout however they are already developing a slightly different navigation structure.
A Magento template has not been pre-selected for this project. Perhaps after reviewing the existing site, you'll be able to recommend a template - one that you are familiar with and that your familiarity will build efficiencies into customizations - thereby saving the client funds.
Shared hosting has already been established at SiteGround.com - there is a willingness to change to dedicated or semi-dedicated hosting if needed.
Client is currently shipping via UPS (continental USA) and USPS for International shipments.
They are currently accepting Paypal Pro payments. These will need to be integrated into the store.
They are currently allowing for volume based discounts and occasionally offer coupons for additional savings. This functionality will have to be included in the Magento store.
Site will need to include Google Analytics code.
Pages will be SEO friendly
Breadcrumbs should be activated and implemented for category pages / sub categories.
Most items in the store are one-of-a-kind. Images are uploaded to store and product details are uploaded via flat file by client. Client will consider inventory controls once he understands how the shopping basket works in Magento (with one of a kind items, he does not wish for items to be removed from inventory until an item has been completely checked-out). Until such a time, the client is manually deactivating products when sold. Any expertise to be share about this would be appreciated.
Following are the three identified phases of development. Please provide estimate of billable hours and completion time needed (days/weeks) for each stage. If more clarity is needed, please advise.
Complete setup of Magento back-end to accommodate multiple stores/sites. Full functionality of the shopping cart may be completed at this stage or in phase 3. Can you advise on best course of action?
Design look & feel of site to complement existing site and functionality. Current site is single column for all CMS pages. Category pages are 3 column wide. Product pages are single column.
Complete back-end implementation to make store fully shoppable;.
Only system setup and template design needed. No content or product upload needed (except to establish/test site as needed). Content will be added outside of this job. System will need to be established allowing categories and CMS pages to be easily added to navigation structure.
Any insights you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
