World of Warcraft Guild Website Portal (The New Darnassian Order)
Designer / Developer requirements
1.) Must write clean, readable and easily maintainable code (code commenting preferred where necessary).
2.) Must adhere to or exceed QA industry standards.
3.) Must have a good eye for design and aesthetics
4.) Must be able to tweak or design graphics / flash
5.) Must follow logical web design standards
6.) Must adhere to a strong OOP's philosophy
7.) Must have a GREAT IMAGINATION and Artistic INTERPRETATION
High level project overview
0.) A non functional (or minimally functional) prototype is required prior to full development. (may go through some iteration before final is approved)
1.) This is a world of warcraft guild website portal and as such, there will be a need for users to login and possibly register. There should also be a user admin interface by which the admin (me or those I grant permissions to) can delete users, change settings, etc.
2.) The website should have a logical design and flow
3.) Site content should be easily maintainable with minimal effects on code (a consequence of good design and coding)
4.) Should be a Forum (threads / message board) where people can post topics, threads etc (standard forum stuff). I believe I still own a UBB's Forum license which is highly scalable and really clean. If you have any alternatives let me know. I'll have to check on that license though.
5.) Calendar, Date time, and some nice web bells & whistles
6.) Professional and aesthetically pleasing
7.) Should have some beautiful and awe inspiring graphics/flash specific to fantasy (WOW)
Example Guild websites (some of them are good...others not so good but they should serve as examples of the base functionality required).
This is a cool website too (I like the design and scheme) http://www.collinwood.net/
We'll drill down on the requirements in an iterative process (but not too iterative). Quality is paramount. I do not like Defects (although I know they are an inherent part of the process, excessive Defects can become frustrating). Also, I'd like to establish a rapport with the developer so that I may utilize him / her on future enhancements / changes and other projects alltogether.
Remark: I dont have the time to develop a full BRD for this project. Also, I dont expect the developer to be able to read my mind either. The developer will have a reasonable degree of artistic range and expression on this project based on our discussions. I do expect quality, excellent exception handling / error trapping / checking as well as reasonable timeline.
