We're looking for a Linux expert, who has strong knowledge of the following: - The ext3 filesystem (the job is to repair broken filesystems, take measures to prevent further filesystem problems on a Debian based, resource constrained, CF based PC). - Linux security fundamentals (the job is to keep the above mentioned device secure, and immune to attacks from the external world). - Linux kernel & peripherals fundamentals (since the system is resource-constrained, the job is to keep the memory usage, disk access and cpu consumption as low as possible). - Light-weight Linux distribution tuning (the job is to make sure that the drivers and external packages that are being setup on the device work coherently on the system). - Server maintenance (the job is to keep a Ubuntu server with X86 architecture and SCSI disks up and running, immune to external attacks and stable all the time, includes creating the routines for backing up the system and resurrecting the system from backups where necessary, tuning the file system and other processes on the device healthy). - Database and application server maintenance (the job is to keep PostgreSQL and JBoss AS secure and high performance on the above mentioned Linux server). This is not a one-time opportunity, this is a contract that will be carried on with the developer for a long-time. For the first iteration, the jobs at hand are as follows: - recovering a currently broken down system - creating a new light-weight linux image that supports the system requirements (which are to be provided) - tuning the image so that resource consumption is minimal, stability and performance is high - tuning a linux server with performance and stability in mind - creating backup and recovery routines for the linux server The precise jobs that are to be accomplished for each iteration will be specified in a separate project offer, to the same developer that wins the first auction. Any questions will be replied promptly.
