Want to run an internet café Clients -OS: winxp pro / linux . kubuntu . www.kubuntu.com / Server- linux . Distro: linux latest kernel. kubuntu 60% to 80% clients would be linux based. Locking means temporary lock of screen. Like screen saver. (applications would be running in background an can be resumed after screen is unlocked). But in my case. I don’t want to depend on ilde time like screen saver does. I Wana force it. 1.i need a script/application/software that runs on boot. and soon after user logs in and desktop is visible, it locks screen. 2. the user is required to give his windows account password to unlock. 3.screen unlocks and at this “unlocking event?? a log is written (count 1) some where safe that is not writable by the current user (who is a non admin ofcourse) 4. the system is free to be used till 30 min. After it has been “30 mins passed the last unlock event??, the screen is locked again. If its not unlocked by the user for say 2 hours or 4 yours. (any length of time) nothing happens. It remains locked (no need for any log. Then if user again unlocks it, a log is again sent to the same file that is logging it. (loged below the previous log.) (count 2). Every time the user is given 30 mins of usage until screen locks. Idea is that if user clicks unlock button and gives a known password. He is agreeing to site for 30 mins. I can know how much usage took place by counting the logs (in a text file) It would be nice to show a warning msg on the 25th minute that auto disappears after 5 seconds. (with an ok button to close before 5 secs too) or/and run a sound file placed some where on the system (on the 25th minute) saying “caution, you have 5 min left till the screen locks. Save your data)?? Loging should record all. ‘time of unlock event’, date. ‘Computer name’ etc
