Need a simple Purchase order entry system.
Purpose: To generate a report that 'rolls up' quantities of each product we offer from each purchase order to assist in production planning
Tool: I envision a spreadsheet that lists all of our products in which we can enter the quantity of each item ordered for a particular Purchase Order. There needs to be a place to include the PO #/customer name to check which POs have been loaded. The quantity of each item is kept in a database (I guess) and then the total quantity of each item can be accessed in a report so we know how much of each item we need to produce.
I already hired a developer to create this program once before. If we ineffective because to enter each product, it had to be found using a pull-down menu. We have thousands of products, so that was extremely time consuming.
Therefore, what I need is the products listed in a spreadsheet format to allow me to easily find a product and put the quantity in the box next to it or something.
Product Information: My company makes children's swimwear. Most product styles have 10 sizes. Ideally, the way the spreadsheet would be set up is to have each style listed by name, color and style number in Column A of the spreadsheet. Then Column B would be the cell for size 1, Column C for size 2 etc up to size 10. That set-up would make the number of rows in the spreadsheet 1/10 of the total (for example 200 vs. 2000). I do not know if that is very difficult, but that would be the ideal. The 2nd option is of course to have each size of a style listed in a row and the quantity for a particular Purchase order entered manually in the column next to the style name.
