I would like to have a Facebook social reader for my self-hosted Wordpress blog that functions the same way as the Huffington Post Social Reader feature (at http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/). The feature will site on the right sidebar of my Wordpress site (www.yommwire.com) and, once enabled by a visitor, will share the articles they are reading on their Facebook timeline using Facebook's Open Graph protocol. The feature box on the sidebar will, once enabled, allow users to see what their Facebook friends have ready and to adjust sharing options, similarly to Huffington Post.
When a Facebook friend clicks on a link to an article on my site from Facebook, ideally I would want them to be promoted to enable Social Reading, before they can read the article (similar to Viddy or Washington Post on Facebook) to encourage more users to enable the feature.
- For each article the user reads, their recent activity should say, "NAME read ARTICLE," with a link to the article.
- This recent activity should be able to show up in the newsfeed so their friends can see the articles they've read and read them and/or comment on the post.
- When their friends click the link, it will ask them to install the app so they can read the article, and the article they read will show in their recent activity and newsfeed as well.
This should be developed as a Wordpress plugin that can be installed on multiple Wordpress blogs.
