Project Description:
The scope of the requested work is to provide a schematic, PCB Layout, and prototypes of a board containing GPS module. The GPS module must be the ublox LEA-5S. The designer must supply a final BOM that includes the supplier and part numbers for all components in the final design.The device is to fit inside of an extruded aluminum enclosure. The designer does not need to provide the enclosure, end plates, or hardware to mount the PCB.
Part numbers are provided for nearly all major components on the board. The designer will have to ensure adequate power supply for the GPS module from the incoming power lines. Some components, such as LEDs, may be changed by the designer.

No changes are required for updating the firmware. The current LEA-5S firmware is adequate.
For helping you test and for possible firmware upgrade you may wish to include a 3-pin serial connector (TX, GND, RX) that does not have any voltage level translation circuitry on the actual device.over 2 years ago
