Project Description:

This is going to be tricky to explain but please PM me for more information if you need it. I need created a program that can be added on linux or windows, but mostly for windows that will change the look and feel of the windows. It will have a few different things included in the software. This programs main function in a way is going to the added feature of floating windows. What I mean by this is that when you open a folder or directory of if you open 'my computer' a window pops open. This window can move around your screen by taking a mouse and clicking on the window and moving it that way. This program will change the way that window moves. Instead of having to click on a window and dragging the mouse to the location you want, this program will allow to kind of take the window and click on it and in a way throw the window to one side of the screen and it sticks to that side. Also when you throw a window it floats to the one side of the screen. This is just a nifty little application add on to windows or linux that could save time for some people and will look pretty cool. If you cant program both languages, then I will accept just one for now. Thanks!

Now I understand what you mean and ALL Linux have this as an optional feature,
Im unsure how I would code this into windows,

    Belxjander,
This idea is hard to explain really. In either operating system there are windows that you can move around your screen or viewing area. Well this add on will make these windows 'float' in a way. Also it will enable users to be able to kind of toss them to one end of the screen this way they dont have to drag the window all the over somewhere and then let go of the mouse. They can simply grab a window and flick it in a direction, and then the window will float to one side or another depending on the direction they point to. Now also when the window hits the end of the screen, the window should stick to that wall and kind of wiggle as if it were stopping fast. This feature is definitely available in linux ubuntu version.

    Hello Maksym,
I am not sure exactly what you are trying to tell me or if your understanding this idea. Can you please explain what you mean?? Thanks!

    Hi.

Your idea is very bright and can improve usability.
Let's do this application on Java with using Java
Native Interface. Thus we will have one basic code
base with platform specific features at the top
(see attachment). That leads to reduced costs and
    shorten schedules.

Would this be a window in the corner containing "boxes" representing open windows on the desktop,

when you "drag" or "move" a box inside the corner window the window it represents also
gets moved across or beyond the desktop display area
( allowing a box window to represent a virtual desktop size larger than the display )

In Linux I am aware of Several Window Managers already having this as a "feature"
and see it being "ported" across to Windows.

is this approximate to your concept ?
