I need to find out what type of serial communication protocol is used by attached software.It can be used in Windows (98 to XP) and Windows DOS box, see attached screen shots.
This software loads .hex file (see attached) to Symbol/Motorola terminals MC9060.
I need to find substitute for this software to use in DOS and Linux.

I think I can deduce the protocol uses for loading that file to the terminal. My proposition is to run a program that monitors the communication over the serial port ( the monitoring program is from a well known vendor and not home made ) while doing the load operation and give me the dump file.
Along with the disassembly of the program itself will allow me to deduce the protocol used.
After this there are a number of free terminal emulators with scripting capabilities that will allow you to emulate the original program if you intend to or a new program could be written ( not included in this bid).
