The goal for Brainfeed website is to create a community based around the comic Eat Me and the commentaries of Brainfeed’s creators. Users accessing the site should be able to easily view and browse any of the site’s main features such as the comic, news and articles along with the site’s forums. Updating content should be easy for any person who understands HTML, basic website design and possibly through a WYSIWYG or similar interface. Depending on the need, I am willing to purchase software for the site such as vBulletin and currently assuming this is what I will want and need.
The image represents the wanted layout for the site and possible ideas but is not final. The top should contain a spot for advertisements, the site logo and an area for updating the user with the latest news and/or forum postings and definitely a spot for the latest comic. Although I am currently leaning toward a more fixed design for the menu and its buttons, having the ability to add or remove buttons would be a plus. Creating news posts should be easy and done through a WYSIWYG interface.
For the featured items shown on the right, I would like the ability to simply post images for quick-linking to special items that will be focused on the sites (ex: Merchandise!) If possible, one of the featured areas should be able to contain HTML so that I can easily add smaller images and links for Facebook, Youtube and the like. Below the featured items should be an area for advertisements. Featured items or areas should have the ability to be removed when not in use.
The comic is of course the main feature of the site and there will need to be a special interface to allow users to browse the comics and possibly locate specific ones.
The suggested color scheme for the site is either a purple or green background with then the opposite green or purple as accents. Ultimately, the image is just a guide and I am hoping a competent web designer can add the awesomeness (for lock of a better word) and professionalism wanted to the website design.
