I have worked on this kind of thing before for a medical field data collection device. The right modem card can trigger the appropriate scripts to do what you want. I have a modem and linux installation on which to develop this so it is a matter of writing the scripts for the modem to execute. You must be able to provide the suitable scripts to do the inserts into the database, but it should be no problem to execute the script from the modem. less
